You choose the gift, they choose the date. Nothing needs to be agreed in between.

The gift card carries its own code. Print it out or forward it.
The recipient picks a date
No fixed date, nothing to arrange in advance. They book whenever it suits them both.
Any balance stays put
If the stay costs less than the value of the card, the difference stays on it for a later booking. If it costs more, the recipient pays the difference.

Amount of your choice
These amounts are indicative. Rates move with the date: on a busy day a stay can cost more than the value of the card, on a quiet day less. You pay the difference, or it stays on the card for next time.
