The ones we recommend most

These are the outings we point our guests to most often. All of them within a ten-minute drive.

  • Spa and wellness 10 minutes by car

    Fort Resort Beemster

A spa in a former fort of the Defence Line of Amsterdam, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Seven saunas, a saltwater bath, a herbal bath, a meditation garden and indoor and outdoor pools. Its restaurant, Poterne, is recommended by the Michelin guide. It is the first carbon-neutral hotel in the Netherlands. A good place to spend a slow day during your stay.

  • Outdoor 5 minutes by car

    Laser clay pigeon shooting

Clay pigeons are launched by an automatic throwing arm and you shoot at them with converted Winchester rifles. No live ammunition: infrared and sound effects instead. Up to five people shoot at the same clay pigeon at once, and the system registers who hits it first. Suitable from age 10. Surprisingly good fun, right in the middle of the polder.

  • Sport 5 minutes by car

    Golf at Kavel 2

A nine-hole course in the middle of the Beemster polder, looking out over the UNESCO World Heritage landscape. The polder course is a demanding one, with historic water hazards and rolling greens. Even if you do not play: Kavel 2 also has footgolf, a restaurant with a terrace and rooms to stay in. Green-fee starters are welcome.

  • Culture 5 minutes by car

    Cheese farms and local produce

The Beemster is known worldwide for its cheese. Visit one of the local cheese farms for a tasting and a tour. You see how Beemster cheese is made and taste the flavours of the polder. Combine it with a visit to a dairy farm keeping Jersey cows, or to the Beemster Erfgoedcentrum heritage centre.
